With the direction and support of our board of directors, TCIA has made the difficult decision to not hold TCI EXPO 2020. TCI EXPO has been the world’s largest tree care show and conference for the past 30 years. As the producer of this great show, the Tree Care Industry Association takes our responsibility very seriously to be the leader in safety and doing what is right for the industry at large.

Part of that responsibility includes careful consideration of the following factors:

• Safety – our biggest concern. We will always choose safety over expediency or convenience. All guidance and information point to there being the highest risk of virus transmission via events like TCI EXPO – where the ability to social-distance is limiting to participants coming from a wide geographic range.

• Travel – we have attendees, exhibitors, and speakers from all over the U.S. and around the globe. Travel restrictions are inconsistent and will likely become a logistical issue for many.

• Economic impact – COVID-19 has put an unprecedented strain on many of our members and exhibitors, making attendance difficult. TCIA is taking the long view to mitigating financial pressures on all who make TCI EXPO possible.

• Event restrictions – until August 31st, the city of Baltimore, MD has canceled all major events. The Baltimore Conference Center is currently being used for COVID-19 testing and closed off to the public.

TCI EXPO is always a highlight of the year, and we are disappointed that we will not be able to gather in person. However, we are very excited to announce that we will be offering a signature virtual event in early 2021. This event will not replace TCI EXPO by any means. It will be an experience that will raise the bar even higher in advancing tree care businesses and the industry. Please stay tuned for updates via email, social, and through our TCIA Mobile App.

TCIA appreciates all the support, careful consideration, and planning that has gone into making this difficult decision. We believe that TCI EXPO will emerge stronger than ever in 2021.  We will have a lot to talk about the next time we all see each other!
